The Editorial Business Systems Manager will work closely with the Business, Editorial, Product Management, and Technology teams to help facilitate efficient software development. This role works with stakeholders to translate new business needs into functional requirements which can be acted upon by the software development team. The Editorial Business Systems Manager will work closely with the Editorial team to drive continuous improvement to existing processes and systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working closely with both the business stakeholders and technology teams.
Essential responsibilities include:
· Manage team of Business Analysts who prepare functional business requirements for the engineering department.
· Manage the Data and Reporting Analyst who gathers departmental reporting requirements, develops new production based reports, and improves existing reporting infrastructure.
· Act as the primary Editorial contact and sponsor for Editorial development projects.
· Ensure that comprehensive business requirements gathered meet the overall business objective and are documented clearly.
· Collaborate with the Business, Editorial, Product Management, and Technology teams to forecast upcoming business objectives that may not be supported via current workflows and software tools.
· Perform qualitative and quantitative research and analysis of existing services and processes to drive continuous improvement
· Keep up to date with evolving technology trends, solutions, tools and practices.
· Assign, monitor, and manage staff workload.
Required Qualifications:
· 2+ years of professional experience managing a team of business analysts, including gathering, documenting and maintaining business rules.
· 5+ years of experience being a lead, or a key team member, in the software development cycle process.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
· Proficient in a variety of analysis methods and techniques, including UML, Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, etc.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Decision making skills
· Current awareness of industry trends and technologies in relevant areas.
