SALES ASSOCIATES

HOURS:  Retail stores hours. Schedules will change from week to week. Full-time is generally 35 to 40 hours per week. Part-time is generally 20 hours per week.

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for providing service to customers with efficient sales, good merchandising and service in a pleasant and clean retail environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Provides sales assistance to customers by fast and accurate ringing of register.  Handles checks, charges and store credits and accurately balances cash drawer.  Provides customer service by knowing stock, sale information, store policies and other related information

• Keeps merchandise neat and organized by appropriate distribution of stock, pricing and pulling stock.

• Maintains orderly store appearance by vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing mirrors, doors and windows and keeping register area clean.

• Engages in loss prevention activities by monitoring dressing rooms and observing customers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate/GED or equivalent experience preferred.  Eighth grade math level (adding, subtracting, percentage, multiplication) required.  Previous retail experience preferred.  Must be able to speak and understand English.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.  The ability to understand when to direct problem situation to supervisor.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to move racks, bins and stock.

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to distinguish basic colors and the ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.

• Position requires standing for long periods of time.
