Clinical Safety Specialist – RN
(32 hrs per week)
Reporting to the Medical Director, the Clinical Safety Specialist will insure optimum patient and staff safety awareness as well as clinical quality program development through comprehensive and well communicated policies and action plans.
Will research, develop, monitor, and update DMA’s infection control policies in compliance with federal OSHA/CDC guidelines to insure organizational compliance. Chairs DMA’s Safety and Infection Control Committee. Must manage various practical elements of compliance with OSHA guidelines (ie., M.S.D.S., etc.) by working closely with DMA’s clinical managers. Will work cohesively with DMA’s Training Specialist to update the infection control training material for annual staff and provider training. Will be the primary responder to exposure incidents and provide management/support for both patient and employee incidents. Will collaborate with HR Generalist and clinical managers to work through and follow-up on all incidents; insures completeness of documentation. Advances and expedites DMA’s established surveillance plan for employee health for both new and existing employees (including, but not limited to, immunization review and update, annual flu clinic, ergonomic assessment program, etc.)
Will provide project development, project management and leadership, as well as logistical assistance in support of the DMA’s Quality and Utilization Review Committee’s recommendations for clinical quality initiatives at both the departmental and organizational level. Must able to interpret clinical quality data and make recommendations for related programs. Effective analytical and project management skills are essential to coordinate both internal and external resources. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to effectively use MicroSoft Office business applications. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of OSHA requirements for an ambulatory healthcare setting. The ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team with regard to prioritizing, problem solving, and handling multiple projects is essential. A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, as an RN with 3-5 years experience in project management initiatives wit proven expertise in the principles of clinical quality management is required.
