Job Summary: Responsible for developing and implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures to insure that product produced or purchased from suppliers conforms to customers' specifications. Works with Customers to identify and resolve quality issues. Manages staffing to support in-process audits, final inspection audits, and returned-product evaluation. Responsible for defining and documenting Quality standards to identify product quality issues and isolating potential causes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
§ To work closely with the Plant Managers, Supervisors, Engineers, Purchasing and Suppliers to coordinate and provide focus on Quality Improvement Initiatives.
§ Works directly with customers' in analyzing the impact of quality issues identified after shipment. Proposes corrective actions including product returns and credits.
§ Develop and Implement a Quality System which reduces scrap and rework within the manufacturing process, and ensures the quality of purchased goods.
§ Provide focus and data needed to drive quality improvements by issuing reports to Management which summarizes the failure costs, scrap and rework, major quality trends, field complaints, audit results and quality projects in the business unit.
§ To train, evaluate, and develop the skills of Quality Technicians, and Inspector/Auditors. Provide Guidance and instruction on Inspection plans and Inspection criteria. Capable of performing all aspects of the Quality Technician's job description, inspect product, perform audits, solve problems, facilitate improvements, write procedures, and train associates.
§ To be responsible for process/product quality of purchased, manufactured, assembled, and packaged product as it related to the assigned Business Units.
§ Implement the use of statistical problem-solving tools and analysis techniques such as including Six Sigma (DMAIC), 8D, 5Y, Statistical Process Control, FMEA, Cp, Cpk,etc.
§ Work closely with Product Development to ensure general product specifications are defined for all products. Ensure product samples are developed and controlled for use in product definition.
§ Develop and manage document control process in support of Manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures, Product specifications, etc.
§ Conduct assessments of supplier capabilities, globally, for finished goods and commodity based components. Work with suppliers to train, educate, and develop their quality systems capabilities.
§ Provide a supply base performance analysis and provide data in support of the supplier scorecard.
§ Travel 25-50%
