Description

Support US senior management through the provision and synthesis of primary and secondary market research, both qualitative and quantitative, as well as the development of assessments of current and future competitive landscapes for selected therapeutic markets. The Analyst, Commercial Assessment will provide both the strategic framework and the necessary qualitative and quantitative data to support a comprehensive analysis of the US market potential for pipeline products in Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases, in-licensing deals and new business opportunities. The Analyst, Commercial Assessment will work closely with Business Development, Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases and Business Intelligence & Analytics.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Manage primary and secondary market research projects, market/product assessments, collection of competitive intelligence and market data to support the needs of Business Development and Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases:

  • Through the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative market research, the Analyst, Commercial Assessment is responsible for developing insights, conclusions and recommendations that can be used by US senior management to make better business decisions, better understand current and future competitive landscapes and market trends and to identify opportunities and potential risks facing the US business
  • Working closely with Commercial Assessments, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases and Business Development, ensure that market research is designed and executed in the manner required to accurately and fully inform US forecasting efforts
  • Identify key inputs to US forecasts
  • Execute time-sensitive projects to deliver data to quantify key inputs using a variety of information gathering techniques
  • Influence others, including US senior management, by building and defending cogent arguments, challenging assumptions and gaining consensus; Influence business decisions by challenging conventional wisdom with considered, data-based points of view

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Analyst, Commercial Assessment will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative market research, both primary and secondary, and competitive landscape projects:
  • Identify the appropriate method(s)
  • Select external vendors, where applicable
  • Develop the questionnaire / discussion guides, in collaboration with the appropriate internal resources
  • Supervising the implementation of discussion guides
  • Analyze and synthesize key findings
  • Develop and lead clear, concise and thoughtful presentations to key internal stakeholders
  • Provide clear, thorough and consistent analysis: market dynamics and market trends, current and future competitive landscapes, product performance, market opportunities and risks
  • Combining awareness of market research results, market/product assessments, secondary data sources (e.g., prescribing behavior, epidemiology data, clinical trial information, etc.) and relevant competitive intelligence, assess the impact of predicted market events on forecasting models
  • Develop, design and execute detailed assessments of the competitive landscape, both current and future, for selected therapeutic markets, utilizing both primary and secondary research, as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors of market research, competitive intelligence, secondary data, software, and consulting services
  • Assist in the development of forecast models, as necessary, for specific AIID projects and US Business Development activities
  • Identify and assess relevant clinical literature, as necessary
  • Partner with functional areas throughout company
  • Interact with all levels of the organization, including US senior management
  • Various administrative duties associated with establishing a new and growing group within the company,such as identification and management of appropriate vendors for infrasctructure-related services
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the company's Business Principles, corporate directives,government and industry regulations and guidelines

Qualifications


EDUCATION/LANGUAGES

  • BA in a business related field, or B.Sc.
  • Fluency in English is required

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in investment banking and/or consulting is highly desired, ideally within the biotechnology / pharmaceutical arena
  • Demonstrated experience conducting primary and secondary market research, both quantitative and qualitative, within the biotechnology / pharmaceutical arena
  • Demonstrated experience developing detailed financial and/or product forecast models
  • Familiarity with therapies for autoimmune diseases is desired
  • Broad business understanding and ability to work cross functionally
  • Understanding of various methods of collecting and analyzing primary and secondary data (e.g., Rx data, clinical trial / medical publications, epidemiology publications)
  • Understanding of multiple methods for conducting market research, commercial assessments, and competitive analyses
  • Ability to apply principles of logic and critical thinking to a wide range of complex business issues
