About the Job

Overview:

 

The Sales Applications Engineer position will provide both strategic and tactical technical sales efforts in support of specified sales opportunities, as our business migrates from individual equipment sales to more of an integrated solution, our sales approach must adapt by becoming more of a team selling environment. 



Responsibilities:

 

Key player on Account Team to help develop Account Strategies and execute Sales Tactics, acting as "Technical Face" of the company to the customer; Educate customer, and company sales channels, on company Products, Technologies, and Procedures; Define customer requirements (e.g. Scope of Work, Concept of Operation, and Systems Integration) and develop Solution Set (e.g. Positioning, Layout, and Performance Analysis); Act as Voice of the Customer to communicate Customer Needs, Wants, and Expectations; Create formalized departmental work flow processes and standardized tools/templates; Work w/Sales Operation Group to Developing Comprehensive System Proposals; Deliver Proposals, Presentations, Concepts and Solutions to Identified Decision Makers  and to Internal Business Leaders.



Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science preferred)
  • Technical/Subject matter experience: 10-15 years experience of practical technical sales experience with large integrated systems (X-ray inspection, security systems, civil works/construction, or systems integration/networking, preferred)
  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of practical technical sales experience in capital equipment industry (selling security equipment to US and International governments including Customs, Military, Civil Aviation, or Law Enforcement, preferred)
  • Experience creating technical proposals (and system requirements documentation, preferred)
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact positively with management and cross-functional peer teams
  • Ability to explain technical procedures both in writing or verbally
  • Capable of managing conflict and independent problem solving
  • Possess the ability to work unsupervised and drive major projects to completion
  • Possess strong time management skills Proficient in use of MS Office applications VISIO, CAD, and/or simulation SW skills a plus
  • Availability to travel extensively (25%-50%)
  • Foreign Language proficiency a plus
