This position will report to the VP, Global Head of Neuroimmunology for NDD. The job includes the establishment and leadership of a group of neuroimmunologists, the performance as group leader and project team leader, and the identification and development of compounds that are disease modifying or act as symptomatic treatments for MS and other neurologic diseases.
Functional Tasks
- Hire and train associates for the Cambridge/Bellirica site to work on in vitro and in vivo models and assays for Neuroimmunology
- Establish and lead a laboratory on projects for NDD
- Contribute to strategic and tactical selection and execution of targets for MS.
- Interact with cross functional groups in a productive manner.
- Lead projects of high complexity as a project team leader, driving them from conception to development candidates.
Managerial Tasks- Act as a thought leader within the company for neuroimmunology and neurological diseases.
- Collaborate with external scientists in establishing and bringing projects forward in the portfolio.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills in providing upper management with portfolio and project justifications and updates on a regular basis.
QualificationsEDUCATION/LANGUAGES
- Excellent speaking, reading, and writing of English is mandatory.
- Understanding of French desired.
PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL SKILLS- PhD in Neuroscience; over 2 years as a postdoctoral fellow.
- More than 3 years experience in pharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated abilities in managing teams of up to 5 associates.
- Demonstrated flexibility and team player ability.
- Three or more years of proven drug discovery experience in an industrial setting.
- Hands on experience in the laboratory and/or comprehensive understanding of in vitro cell-based models using immune cells and glial cells (astrocytes, microglia, and oligodendrocytes).
- Breadth and depth of understanding and ability to establish a variety of EAE models and models of de/remyelination (Cuprizone).
- Track record of publications in good journals.
- Proven experience of managing the development of drugs to preclinical development as a project team leader.
- Demonstrated communications skills to sophisticated audiences.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Proven demonstration of capacity to work effectively across different functional groups as a PTL.
