Facilities Manager

About the Job

Very highly visible career opportunity is available for a Facilities Manager at a rapidly growing medical device contract manufacturer with two locations in Franklin and Dartmouth, Massachusetts. We are seeking a highly organized, motivated and well-rounded Maintenance Professional to supervise the maintenance operations at both of our manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a facilities leader with a "hands-on" type of approach who is able to manage a maintenance team with the goal of maintaining company equipment, fixtures and facilities and also ensure that proper safety practices are in place. This position is integral to providing a world class working environment for our employees, visitors and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to facilities maintenance technicians and assign, schedule, and supervise their training and work assignments.
  • Conduct routine plant and equipment inspections to ensure proper maintenance of production equipment and building is maintained.
  • Investigate all maintenance related problems.
  • Prioritize and schedule repair activities and arrange for emergency repairs as needed.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs that will result in a reduction in equipment downtime.
  • Review equipment downtime records and develop an action plan for corrective action.
  • Manage Waste Water Treatment operations and maintenance functions in support of consistent, high level waste water treatment including routine testing, data/ records analysis, facilities and equipment maintenance.
  • Provide leadership to plant Safety Programs and work as part of the Tegra Safety Team to maintain a safe work environment and prevent injuries
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facilities to identify and initiate corrective actions for safety and environmental discrepancies; ensure that hazardous waste is disposed of properly and ensure that employees follow company protocol and all OSHA requirements.
  • Assure compliance with applicable EPA, OSHA, DEP and other federal, state and local governmental regulations.
  • Develop and coordinate staff training and development.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees to assist them in reaching their full potential.
  • Supervise HVAC, other trades and cleaning staff performing maintenance and repair and monitor and administer subcontracts to ensure contract compliance. 
  • Take ownership of complex capital projects and provide scope of work, cost of the project, budgets, future project timelines and payback calculations.
  • Work with outside contractors, suppliers and corporate engineering resources on capital projects and repairs.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained on maintenance materials, supplies, and spare parts.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience as a Maintenance Supervisor (preferably with building operations in a manufacturing environment) is required. Must have strong working knowledge of HVAC, fire and other life safety systems and regulations, waste water, hazardous materials, carpentry, painting, general building maintenance and repair, plumbing, electrical and roofing systems, machining equipment and practices, pneumatics, hydraulics, and blueprint and wiring schematics reading. Must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs., climb ladders and work from elevated platforms up to 35 feet.

 

Knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, DEP and other applicable Federal, Massachusetts and local regulations is a must as well as a demonstrated knowledge of managing capital and restoration projects. Must be familiar with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems and be able to prioritize in a high volume environment under tight deadlines, controlled budgets, and time constraints. Should have experience managing budgets and achieving competitive pricing with suppliers and vendors. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is also required.

 

Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate others and strong interpersonal skills with an ability to listen and work well with others is a must. A sense of urgency, customer service focus, accountability as well as strong managerial and administrative skills for problem-solving and meeting deadlines is required. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays to service a 24 hour/7 day per week operation as needed.
