SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Behavior Therapist (BT) is responsible for assisting and supporting the individuals in carrying out their daily routines, their daily schedules of activities and their individual programs. The BT is also responsible for implementing all specific clinical and educational and vocational programs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to data collection, reading and writing in daily logs, participation in program design and completion of specific area designated area responsibilities.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The BT reports to a Job Coach, Assistant Teacher or Residential Shift Supervisor. They work in conjunction with other BT’s for the implementation of the routines, schedules and activities. The BT maintains a good working relationship with all Amigo employees.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implementation of clinical, educational and vocational program on a daily basis, as indicated and/or scheduled.
2. Assists in carrying out tasks and/or daily routines. Follows the established daily schedules of activities.
3. Observes and records accurate and reliable data for programs as established in the educational plan for the individual.
4. Reads the daily log for an update on the current and procedural and programmatic information. Signs off upon completion. Makes appropriate entries in the log, as needed.
5. Participates with other team members in performing all tasks necessary to maintain a clean and organized environment. Follows established cleaning schedules in the particular location. Reports or records repair needs when necessary.
6. Attends and participates in team meetings and other required program planning meetings.
7. Maintains positive and accurate communication throughout all work responsibilities. Works as an active and constructive team member in all duties.
8. Attends, completes and maintains all required trainings and certifications.
9. Observes and safeguards individual’s human rights.
10. Assumes other specific responsibilities as deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the individuals.
11. Maintains a working knowledge of all individuals and will periodically work in other program locations at the request of a manager.
12. Follows the appropriate chain of command, reporting all necessary information to supervisor.
13. If certified in Medication Administration, dispenses medications when necessary. Follows established systems to insure quality health care of the individuals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A minimum of a high School diploma is required. College degree and previous experience is preferred.
2. Maturity, good judgment and the ability to work comfortably with people in the community.
3. Expressed interest in working with a special needs population in a behavioral setting.
4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Current CPR, First Aid or willing to obtain the certifications.
6. Must have a valid driver’s license.
