Scope of Responsibility:
The Shift Supervisor (SS) is responsible for the implementation of educational and clinical programs in their assigned sites. The SS is also responsible for supervising the staff on their assigned shifts and insuring that the staff completes all of the shifts assignments. Additional responsibilities include assuring that data is collected and recorded as designed, reading and recording in daily logs, participation in program design, completion of all shift responsibilities and client routines, activities and other assigned duties.
Working Relationships:
The SS reports to a Program Coordinator in the residential location. The SS maintains a good working relationship with all Amego employees. He/she works in conjunction with all staff for the implementation of individual’s ISP/IEPs.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitors the implementation of routines, schedules and programs on a daily basis. Assures that the staff is implementing them as trained or formally instructed. Redirects staff in these areas as needed.
2. Serves as a role model for staff in all areas of programming, services and professional practices.
3. Assures that the program site is organized and clean at all times. Reports the repair needs via physical plant lists or notifies the Administrator on Call for emergencies.
4. Assumes responsibility for the daily schedule and for assigning staff to clients throughout the shift. Oversees that the staff are following the schedule and assures that all appropriate ratios are maintained or safely accommodated by adjusting the client to staff ratio to assignments. Coordinates emergency needs with the approval of the Administrator on Call.
5. Coordinates transition times of the day as scheduled. (I.e. van arrivals in the afternoon and departures in the morning.)
6. Maintains positive and accurate communication across all shifts. Completes all required paperwork that is established for the location; i.e. communication and other logs, report forms, inventories, incident reports, etc.
7. Administers medications as prescribed by the student/client’s physician, as scheduled. Maintains accurate medication records for all of the clients. Holds and maintains medication administration certification.
8. Performs specific responsibilities established by the agency nurse to insure quality health care of the client. (I.e. monthly inventory and supply needs, communication at client medical appointments, etc.)
9. Ensures that Amego’s policy and procedure on client’s rights are implemented in all areas of client programming and services.
10. Responsibly handles purchase orders, petty cash or other cash systems for client routines as assigned. Completes the documentation requirements for the systems as well.
11. Assists in the overall team approach in maintaining organization in the assigned location, i.e. filing, completing inventories and other relevant assignments.
12. Ensures the implementation of individual clinical and educational programs.
13. Observes and records accurate and reliable data for all of the programs as established by the ISP/IEP. Assures that the assigned staff is doing the same.
14. Reads and writes in the daily log regarding relevant programmatic and other information.
15. Completes related program assignments and paperwork, which include, but is not limited to: tallying data, graphing data, recreation trip scheduling, fire drill logs, etc.
16. Participates with the other team members in performing all tasks necessary to maintain a clean and organized environment.
17. Attends and participates in assigned team meetings, as well as other meeting conducted to design and review programs for the clients, and /o submits written input for the meeting agendas.
18. Attends in-service training programs.
19. Assists their supervisors in developing new systems when necessary.
20. Maintains working knowledge of all students/clients.
21. Periodically works in other Amego locations at the request of the manager or the Administrator on Call.
22. Works as an active and constructive team member in all duties.
Qualifications:
1. College degree and previous experience if preferred but not required.
2. Maturity, good judgment and the ability to work comfortably with people in the community.
3. Expressed interest in Applied Behavioral Analysis.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Current CPR and first Aid Certification or willingness to obtain and maintain them.
6. Able to meet all of the essential functions of the position. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screening and a pre-employment physical (REQUIRED OF ALL EMPLOYEES AFTER 1/92).
7. Must enroll in and pass and maintain certification in SOLVE course.
Physical requirements of the course are as follows:
A. Able to run 25 yards without difficulty
B. Able to pivot 180 degrees off each leg
C. Able to go down on both knees with ease, no holding on
D. Able to stand up from kneeling position with ease, no holding on
E. Has full range of motion in both shoulders
F. Able to lift 20 lbs.to shoulder height without difficulty
G. Able to bend trunk forward to 45-60 degrees from standing position (minimum of 2 minutes)
H. Able to rotate head (full normal range)
I. Able to bend neck backwards and forwards (full normal range)
8. Must be able to hear sufficiently to identify behaviors targeted auditorially and to respond to assist calls.
9. Must be able to understand and memorize behavior plans. Accommodations can be made in the presentation of material.
10. Must be able to speak English sufficiently to communicate with clients, families and staff.
11. Must be able to perform basic math computations and write required reports. Accommodations can be made that are within reason.
12. Must have vision that is sufficient to observe target behaviors of clients and to perform safety functions.
