About the Job

Position summary:

GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional, highly-motivated Research Associate to work on cutting edge technology in the renewable chemicals space.  The successful candidate will support research on the discovery, engineering, and expression optimization of biochemical pathways in the context of a milestone-driven proof-of-concept project.  Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems, are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Routinely perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA mutagenesis, DNA subcloning, protein/DNA electrophoresis, cell transformation, cell culture, and other more advanced methods in support of research projects.
  • Under guidance, perform experiments for pathway testing and optimization, including enzymatic assays and metabolite detection/quantification using HPLC and/or MS.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish project goals and milestones.
  • Use creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot experimental challenges.
  • Continuously contribute to the company’s intellectual property portfolio by routinely tracking and documenting results in laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to manager and other team members.

 

Qualifications:

B.S. or M.S. in bioengineering, molecular biology, biochemistry, or equivalent and two or more years experience, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Qualified applicants must have a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry with experience in recombinant DNA technologies, protein analysis, cell transformation, and cell culture. Familiarity with analytical techniques for metabolite detection is a plus.  Must be highly-motivated with exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
