Overview:
The Copy Writer is a strong creative thinker with outstanding writing, editing, proofing, time management and organizational skills. The Copy Writer is responsible for managing copy for breakthrough communications campaigns with a healthcare and patient focus. This will involve a combination of writing, editing and proofing content across all media – including online, print and video - and managing a pool of copy freelancers for overflow projects.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with account team to coordinate copy development for clients’ communication outreach campaigns, including writing and/or directing/managing freelancers to ensure content meets each campaign’s goals, maintains a consistent voice and stays on brand.
- Liaise with art director/design team to ensure, in a given piece, that copy and design are cohesive.
- Track each piece through the editorial process to ensure the final product is of the highest quality. This includes managing and tracking rounds of edits, proofreading copy, and adhering to appropriate editorial and style guides.
- Depending on time/schedule, write/edit/proofread documents produced internally, including proposals, follow-up documents, and marketing materials, using knowledge of the project, company and strategic positioning.
Skills
- Excellent writer with strong copyediting and proofreading skills.
- Ability to direct, write and edit a range of copy styles and for various media, including print, video, interactive and events. An understanding of the production of these medias a plus.
- Ability to interact with the client and manage the editorial process through Legal, Medical and Regulatory reviews.
- Knowledge of proofreading marks, medical copy and grammatical standards.
- Agency experience a big plus.
- Solid project management skills, organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; able to learn additional applications.
Qualifications
- Must have BA/BS in Journalism, English, Communications or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of marketing/communications copywriting experience, preferably in an agency setting.
- Must be highly organized and have a strong sense of personal time management.
- Experience working with content for LifeSciences/Healthcare industry a plus.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills required. Must have very close attention to detail and consistency while working on tight deadlines.
- Good interpersonal communication skills, dependable, and has good judgment.
