Senior Formulations Scientist - Semi-Solids

We are currently seeking a Senior Formulations Scientist, who specializes in semi-solid formulations, to join our talented team located in Wareham, MA.

Accountability Objectives

 

This position reports directly to the Manager, Formulations and involves both supervisory and technical expertise.  This scientist will be responsible for management of semi-solid dosage formulations, client interactions, daily supervision of junior staff, and proposal/report writing.

 

Job Summary

 

The Senior Formulations Scientist is expected to take initiative and develop novel approaches to semi-solid formulation development.  Past job experience or training gained obtaining a Masters degree appropriate to formulations development is required.  The Senior Formulations Scientist is expected to have developed an ability to develop methods quickly, and have enough experience with different types of methodology to provide themselves as a reference source for other scientists in the facility.  Additionally, the individual must be able to represent SP Formulations to clients both over the phone and in person, and transmit a professional image.  This position has the capability to act as a Project Manager for formulation development..

 

A.  Job Duties

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Validates and develops new formulations.

2. Writes new client proposals

3. Records and organizes data in laboratory notebooks and summarizes data using computer programs.

4. Trains scientists and technicians.

5. Provides summaries and written reports to program supervisors, clients, and executives.

 

Good technical writing skills in formulations [written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression].  Ability to integrate observations (visual and written, discrimina­tion) into evaluation process.  College math [mathematical reasoning, memorizing].  Ability to work at a fast pace without compromising accuracy or completeness, prioritize work assignments and handle stress [high productivity].

B. Chemical Safety

 

1. Directs chemical use, chemical labeling, and chemical storage.

2. Maintains safety awareness to subordinate staff.

 

 

C. Laboratory Safety

 

1. Knowledgeable and conforms to all relevant safety information, within area of responsi­bility, including use of specialized safety equipment such as respirators.

 

 

Job Specifications

 

M.S./Ph.D. in Chemistry or related subject area, or B.S. in Chemistry or related subject area plus 5-7 years job experience. Proficient in documentation and procedures required by Good Manfuacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and SP Formulations Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
