Project Manager, Community Renewable Energy Programs

About the Job

The award-winning Renewable Energy Trust is the leading renewable energy funding agency in Massachusetts.  This position is an exciting opportunity to play an integral part in developing and managing initiatives for the Commonwealth.   The ideal candidate will have an established record of coordinating distributed renewable energy generation projects.  This position will be located initially in Westborough, MA. Once the Renewable Energy Trust completes its move, this position will work out of a new Boston office.    

 

The Project Manager will work collaboratively with a wide range of project participants and stakeholders to promote the incorporation and integration of community-scale renewable energy technologies.  Major multi-million-dollar programs currently managed by the Community Renewable Energy Program include the Commonwealth Solar Program and the Community-Scale Commonwealth Wind Program.  For further information about these programs and their scope consult www.masstech.org/solar and www.masstech.org/wind. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will develop and manage initiatives within the Renewable Energy Trust’s Community Renewable Energy Programs.   More specifically, you will:   

 

  • The design and implementation of initiatives, associated solicitations and applications.
  • The management of the review process of applications and contract negotiations.
  • The ongoing management of contracts with awardees during the project implementation phases.
  • Manage the Trust’s participation in renewable energy construction projects
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with project participants and stakeholders, including community representatives, government officials, business and industry partners, and environmental and consumer advocates
  • Represent the Renewable Energy Trust with community and business representatives and other constituent groups to foster project effectiveness
  • Meet regularly with external project staff to review project progress, reporting any problems or concerns and proposed remedies
  • In concert with the Legal Department, negotiate contracts with grant recipients
  • In concert with Legal Department and Project Administration Office, monitor contract budget, schedule and task compliance, reporting any problems or concerns and proposed remedies
  • In concert with a Project Administrator:
    • Oversee the review and approval of grantee invoices based upon project deliverables and timeframes
    • Update staff and supervisors on status of projects
    • Prepare periodic reports on project activities according to established protocol
    • Monitor projects to completion; prepare final project reports according to established protocol
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external audiences  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Our “candidate of choice” will have a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility involving project management in the energy industry or energy-related industry.  Your knowledge of renewable energy generation systems for onsite applications as well as your thorough understanding of complex public and political issues related to economic development and renewable energy will fit well within the Renewable Energy Trust. 

Your ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and with internal staff and working groups along with your established network with renewable energy professionals will prove beneficial in this exciting role.  Your enthusiasm will be just as important in this high visibility role.
