2009 marks the 25th anniversary of BJ's Wholesale Club, which first introduced the warehouse club concept to the northeastern U.S. in 1984. Since then, we have expanded north to Maine, south to Florida and west into Ohio, today operating 180 Clubs in 15 states.

Responsibilities: As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Enterprise Architect will: Understand business requirements for long-term information/data architecture solutions; understand the application components required to meet the business requirements; assemble artifacts to document the current state architecture ; develop an architectural blueprint aligned with strategic business requirements and rationalizes technology components; collaborate with the Data, Integration, and Infrastructure Architects to ensure alignment of all domain areas; develop a technology roadmap and transition from the current architecture to the target architecture; recommend technology refresh activities in accordance with budgetary and business requirements.; provide governance and guidance to IT teams to ensure that the technical solutions delivered conform to the enterprise architecture; serve as point of escalation, review and approval for key issues, significant projects and decisions with regards to the enterprise architecture; analyze technology industry and market trends and determine their potential impact on the enterprise; advise business and technology groups on future technology options, outlining risks, costs, benefits and capabilities and develop various technology platform strategy documents. Performs additional tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: Knowledge and experience with industry reference models. Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and security principles and standards (PCI, PII, etc.). Demonstrated experience with EAI, SOA and web services. Experience with any of the following frameworks (TOGAF, Gartner, DODAF, etc.). Understands enterprise architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices with 10+ years of IT experience. Previous Retail IT experience, preferred. Should be a well-rounded senior technologist with strong analytical and problem solving skills and strong strategic planning capabilities. Demonstrated experience working with technical and business teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document and present data models, strategies, standards, and concepts to both business and IT audiences. Proactive self-managing individual.
