Mgr, Project Management

General Purpose:


Manager, Project Management oversees various business and Information Technology (IT) projects of the most complex nature.  These projects often include integrating several large projects into an overall program or significant software release. The Manager, Project Management is responsible for managing the PMO (project management office) tasked with the ongoing successful execution of multiple projects. This includes managing the performance of all PMO resources as well as the evolution of the PMO as a function of the organization.


 


§         Ensure the execution of initiatives across the organization including, but not limited to:


o        Understanding stakeholder requirements, setting clear expectations, and delivering on commitments


o        Managing a detailed cross-functional project cost estimation process


o        Aligning with release planning and capacity managers to ensure delivery expectations are met


o        Directing work breakdown structure; assisting in defining activities & dependencies, estimating work effort, developing & managing schedules, including planning & reporting


o        Identifying, quantifying, prioritizing risk and ensuring effective cost / benefit balance in migration plans


o        Analyzing key delivery metrics to identify enterprise level barriers that impact delivery


o        Providing status and performance information for executive steering teams


o        Evangelizing and maintaining constant and repeatable program delivery frameworks


o        Managing continuous improvement via the application of lessons learned


o        Improving delivery throughput while maintaining quality


 


§         Manage resources necessary to ensure execution including, but not limited to:


o        Ensuring responsibility, authority, and accountability is clearly defined and understood


o        Managing, coaching, training, and mentoring resources


o        Managing inter and intra-team dynamics


o        Hiring and evaluating performance necessary to achieve commitments and continuous improvement


o        Establishing PMO measures, metrics, and targets to drive performance


o        Building bench strength by developing a team recognized by the organization as go-to leaders


 


§         Lead the evolution of the Project Management Office (PMO) including, but not limited to:


o        Expanding the breadth of execution from IT focused projects to enterprise-wide efforts


o        Elevating the PMO as a center of excellence for the execution of organizational needs


o        Leading the development and implementation of PMO methodologies and related processes


o        Identifying positive and negative trends in delivery functions to ensure ongoing improvement


o        Driving successful organizational and cultural change to achieve the next level of performance


o        Serving as the innovator for PMO strategy


 


The organization is highly dynamic and while concepts will remain consistent specific roles and responsibilities will evolve; flexibility is the key.



Requirements:

 


 


·         Minimum of 5-7 years project management experience with a track record of delivering on time, on spec, on budget


§         3-5 experience leading an enterprise PMO in a dynamic environment


·         Strong hands-on history successfully executing multiple high-risk, high-visibility, large-scale projects


§         Demonstrated experience using Systems Development Lifecycle and Project Management Methodologies


·         High level of knowledge and command in industry best practices


·         Proven leadership experience directing project managers and critical path business resources  


·         Ability to translate complex business needs into simple actionable plans


·         Demonstrated conflict management & negotiation skills


·         Solid leadership skills with strong business acumen


·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills


·         Demonstrated proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel & PowerPoint


·         Minimum Bachelors Degree, Advanced degree preferred in Business Management


·         Must pass a successful background investigation
