SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES |
CC is looking for a curriculum developer. The successful candidate will participate in two projects, each involving developing curriculum for secondary school science, and working with teachers and schools to coordinate field testing of materials and assess the impact of the curriculum and technology on teaching and learning.
High Adventure Science (HAS): The High Adventure Science project will inject contemporary earth science into the classroom, engaging students in important unanswered questions that scientists around the world are actively exploring. The project will produce videos and computer-based learning activities that rely on student inquiry.
Logging Opportunities in Online Programs for Science (LOOPS) : The LOOPS project makes innovative use of technology to create timely, valid, and actionable reports to teachers by analyzing assessments and logs of student actions generated in the course of using online curriculum materials. The reports will allow teachers to make data-based decisions about alternative teaching strategies, and will support student collaboration and classroom based learning centered around the real-time collection and analysis of student work.
Specific responsibilities on both projects include:
• Design, write, edit, and produce online curriculum materials as part of each project
• Work with a team of curriculum developers
• Develop ideas for technology-enhanced explorations
• Ensure high quality of product
• Manage schedules and resources to meet strict project deadlines
• Coordinate information among partners, subcontractors, teachers, and schools
• Travel to school sites and professional development workshops and conferences, as necessary
· Assist in development and facilitation of teacher workshops
· Assist in writing reports with principal investigators
QUALIFICATIONS |
Candidates should be qualified to oversee and develop curriculum and professional development materials
• MS/MA or equivalent experience in math, science, or technology
• Strong background in science
• 10+ years experience developing curriculum materials
• 10+ years experience developing technology materials, with special emphasis on 3D visualization, video, and modeling
• 10+ years experience doing fieldwork with students, teachers, and schools
• 5-10+ years experience managing projects
• Track record of high-quality work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to telecommunicate effectively with a distributed group of people
• Ability to organize information, making use of technology and communication tools
• Ability to work effectively with science content experts, classroom teachers, and project partners
• Knowledge of U.S. secondary science standards
| SALARY |
$70,000 to $80,000 full time annual salary, depending on qualifications; position will be funded at 80% until new funding becomes available, then at 100%.
