












Job Description:
IS Director - Strategy and Program Management Office
This position will be the leader for the IS Strategy and Program Office organization within BSC Information Systems. In this role the Director will own the Program office that provides oversight for the major (>$500K) projects occurring within BSC. This role will also own the execution and on-going evolution of the BSC IS Strategy, 5 Year IS Roadmap. This role will serve as a chief of staff for the Chief Information Officer and will have responsibility for managing the IS Governance process, providing FDA Audit support, and managing the relationship between BSC Information Systems and the Software Quality Assurance organization within Quality.
In addition to those listed above, this role will have the following responsibilities:
Lead the IS Governance Board process
Manage monthly IS Governance Board meetings
Manage and develop the 20-25 BSC resources reporting to this role
Execute existing IS Strategy and continue to evolve / refine IS Strategy
Oversee usage of GSDM software development & SCR system change methodologies
Manage the IS Training organization, guiding strategy & building IS skills around human change management
Manage relationship with Software Quality organization, and arbitrate conflicts in interpretation of software quality between project teams and SQA
Support Regulatory Agency Audits, providing back and front room support
Maintain and enhance IS Project metrics, driving increased transparency and consistency across IS project teams regarding execution performance
The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic leader, have solid executive presence and a proven record of outstanding project management. To be successful, the Director will be results oriented and influential, but also an empathetic listener with the ability to build strong relationships in a highly matrixed and participative environment. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study, more than 15 years of professional experience, experience managing teams of more than 20 people. An MBA would be beneficial, but not required for this position.
Candidates should have the following experiences or demonstrated skills:
5+ years experience in Life Sciences industry
Experience with FDA regulations regarding non-medical device software, including software validation, electronic signature, good documentation practices
Experience managing a team size of 20+ employees
Demonstrated results managing across matrix organizations and among peers
Experience setting and executing IS Strategy Experience supporting an FDA audit, with experience directly interacting with FDA auditors
7+ years in Program management with demonstrated experience managing multiple large projects concurrently
PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials
