Engineer (Transmission Planning) for a company recognized as a leader in the utilities industry
OCCUPATION:
Electrical/Electronics Engineering
We are seeking an experienced Engineer to work within our Transmission Planning, Process and Policy organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for the critical evaluation of analytical studies for transmission system expansion, interconnection of new generation and load to the transmission system. These analytical studies will involve power system thermal, voltage, and reactive behavior, as well as transient, dynamic, harmonic, and short circuit performance as they relate to system reliability, economics and operating flexibility. The selected engineer will evaluate study findings and recommendations in preparation for presentation to the Asset Management Investment Committee and evaluate processes relative to studies, work flow, and technical evaluations. The selected candidate will develop and implement policies and procedures relative to Transmission Planning. In addition, you will develop instructional material and provide training. Occasional travel will be required in this position as you will be asked to represent National Grid USA interests on national, regional and local levels in various transmission planning and operations working groups/committees Qualifications: · Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required with a minimum of five (5) years of experience; Master's Degree in Electrical Power Systems or other advanced engineering or management degrees highly desired. · Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques in load flow, stability, and short circuit analysis highly desired. · Proficiency in MSOffice (Word and Excel) required. · Proficiency in MSOffice Access desired. · Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and through written documents required. · Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. · Experience with the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, NY ISO, or ISO-NE working groups, task forces or committees desired. · Experience with NERC Standards desired.
