Full Time Project Based Contractor
NuVal, LLC is a rapidly expanding “start-up” company formed in 2008 to bring the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System to market. It is the joint venture of Topco Associates, LLC, and Griffin Hospital, a non-profit community hospital affiliated with Yale University in Connecticut.
The NuVal Nutritional Scoring System uses a proprietary algorithmic formula to score nutritional value of foods on a scale of 1 to 100, weighing some 30 different nutrient factors; the higher the score, the higher the nutritional value. Based on the Overall Nutritional Quality Index, (ONQI), the system was developed over a 2 year period by a panel of 12 medical and nutritional experts from leading North American Universities and health organizations, led by Dr. David L. Katz, M.D., Associate Professor, Adjunct of public health at Yale University School of Medicine and a nationally recognized authority of nutrition weight control and the prevention of chronic disease.
We have an opening for a Data Manager. Responsibilities include:
The Data Manager is a key position for NuVal. The qualified candidate must be capable of managing both the technical side as well as the business side of issues. The ideal data manager will be able to run reports, identify and solve data issues, oversee cleaning the database, and streamline data movement through the pipeline.
Responsibilities also include:
- Own all inbound and outbound data exchanges
- Test and maintain data quality
- Clean the database
- Create test scripts
- Generate and implement reports
- Provide database development support
- Implement database procedures and training
- Manage a team of several direct reports
Experience and Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science related field
- 5 to 10 years experience as a data manager
- Strong knowledge of My SQL, including triggers, store procedures and functions
- Understanding of Linux
- Working knowledge of Jasper
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills
