SUMMARY:
Responsible for coordinating the division’s components standards (Qualified Parts List) including alternate sourcing and purchased parts standardization, among Engineering, Engineering Services and Operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist engineers in selecting and defining electrical and electro-mechanical components and their prime source in accordance with specific program or contract requirements.
2. Select and define second and/or alternate sources for all active purchased components as listed in approved, configured and controlled bill of materials of the facility’s products and systems. Document per company configuration management requirements.
3. List, add and delete vendor's part numbers from the qualified parts list as required by market, technology and industry changes, GIDEP updates and alerts, approved enginering changes to existing designs and responses to vendor rating feedback system.
4. Work with PCBA suppliers on parts obsolescence, ROHS compliance, counterfeit part avoidance, etc.
5. Coordinate component standards with the Portland facility.
6. Assist buyers by providing technical information as needed to support an efficient procurement process.
7. Assist material quality function by providing technical information as needed to support the material review process.
8. Generate purchasing specifications as required by part's complexity, criticality and by specific contract requirements.
9. Identify components projected to be obsolete and take appropriate preventative action with all effected organizations in order to accommodate for the anticipated situation.
10. Assist documentation control with adding geometry height attributes to all schematic / layout library parts to support 3D data interchange with Solid Works.
11. Perform other job related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering required. Minimum eight years of proven experience in component engineering within the high tech industry environment. Must be knowledgeable in multiple disciplines - mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical and optical.
