Plan and execute communications activities that contribute toward enhancing and cementing BAE Systems image and credibility among employees, customers, the public, Congress, and the news media. Interacts with employees at all levels, new media, key publics, and the public at large on behalf of BAE Systems. The Electronic Solutions Communications function operates in a professional services model. Consultancy, strategic direction and tactical execution are all employed in supporting the business objectives of the ES line of business.





Principal Duties and Responsibilities:





1. Contributes to the development and implementation of an employee information program to keep employees informed of company activities affecting employee performance and morale, crisis management, and security. This includes, but is not limited to, the company intranet, social media, e-mail memos, all-hands meetings, and printed materials.





2. Contributes to the development of news media relations by supporting the Communications executives assigned to each Electronic Solutions business area. This includes, but is no limited to, establishing and maintaining print and electronic news media relations; news release preparation, dissemination and follow-up; preparing and overseeing news media interviews, researching and responding to news media queries; and maintaining press kits, fact sheets, photo, and video files.





3. Contributes to BAE Systems community relations programs by assisting Community Relations manager and staff with event publicity, coordination and execution, both within the company and the community.





4. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education and Requirements:


? Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or other related discipline.


? Must have at least two years experience in professional communications; defense industry experience would be ideal.


? Proficient in use of social media tools to communicate with employees and outside stakeholders.





Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:


1. Strong written communication skills; portfolio/samples desired, either hard copy or URL?s for Web copy.


2. Strong proficiency in Web tools and social media tools.


3. Strong interpersonal skills.


4. Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.


5. Ability to multi-task and flexible to work overtime as necessary.


6. Willingness to accept short-term (1-4 weeks) assignments at other locations.
