2009 marks the 25th anniversary of BJ's Wholesale Club, which first introduced the warehouse club concept to the northeastern U.S. in 1984. Since then, we have expanded north to Maine, south to Florida and west into Ohio, today operating 180 Clubs in 15 states.
BJ's is dedicated to providing Members with top-quality brand-name merchandise at prices significantly lower than supermarkets, supercenters, department stores, drug stores and specialty stores.
Responsibilities: Participate in the management of the design, development and enhancement of IT applications and software platforms, including providing analytical and applications support of Java and our eCommerce initiatives. Apply technical and analytical skills of a senior engineer, while administering leadership abilities to rollout solution development tools within different IT development teams. Perform as a team liaison and interface with all levels of management and the business user community. Serve as mentor and training resource for other team members. Support daily functional operations, technical aspects and problem solving of assigned applications. Create standards, processes and training for the assigned solution tools based on industry best practices. Apply principles and practices of BJ’s IT Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology requirements to all assigned tasks and projects. Coordinate and communicate with other IT teams and external contacts during product rollout and administration. Provide on call support for the related solution development tools logical environment issues. Handle additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of senior level software development experience is required. Experience is essential in Java based web applications and consumer-oriented web commerce technologies. Participation and track record in the design and creative aspects of website development are necessary. Knowledge is essential in Java, JSP, SQL, HTML, JSTL and AJAX. Knowledge is desired in XML, XSLT, EJB, DB2, Shell scripting, Unix and Linux. Strong system analysis and design skills and demonstrated ability in rolling out solution development tools within an organization are necessary. Strong project management, analytical and communication skills are required, as well as an understanding of SDLC and SOX. Software engineering industry and/or some previous project leadership experience is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field is preferred.
