Job Description

IT - Project Leader - Java, EJB, DB2

Responsibilities:

Participate in the management of the design, development and enhancement of IT applications and software platforms, including providing analytical and applications support of Java and our eCommerce initiatives.  Apply technical and analytical skills of a senior engineer, while administering leadership abilities to rollout solution development tools within different IT development teams.  Perform as a team liaison and interface with all levels of management and the business user community.  Serve as mentor and training resource for other team members.  Support daily functional operations, technical aspects and problem solving of assigned applications.  Create standards, processes and training for the assigned solution tools based on industry best practices.  Apply principles and practices of BJ’s IT Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology requirements to all assigned tasks and projects.  Coordinate and communicate with other IT teams and external contacts during product rollout and administration.  Provide on call support for the related solution development tools logical environment issues.  Handle additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of senior level software development experience is required.  Experience is essential in Java based web applications and web commerce technologies.  Knowledge is essential in object oriented design and programming methodologies, Java, Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), SQL, Unix, Linux, shell scripting and DB2.  Knowledge is desired in JSP, XML, XSLT and MQ.  Retail industry experience is a plus, but not required.  Strong system analysis and design skills and demonstrated ability in rolling out solution development tools within an organization are necessary.  Strong project management, analytical and communication skills are required, as well as an understanding of SDLC and SOX.  Software engineering industry and/or some previous project leadership experience is preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field is preferred.
