Description Provide expertise in oncology with focus on performing mechanistic/functional cell-based assays, as well as generating in vitro data for discovery and preclinical projects in the Translational Research group, TA Oncology.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide laboratory support, data analysis and evaluation/documentation for oncology research for small molecule and/or biological therapeutics in Discovery and Pre-clinical development, with a particular focus on translational research.
- Other primary tasks include the development and implementation of phenotypic assays in tumor cells for mechanism of action studies, indication pin pointing studies to support clinical stratification plans, as well as performing assays to address oncology drug combinations, in a matrix environment.
- The candidate will also be expected to participate in the design and implementation of studies for the identification of biomarkers.
- The candidate should provide knowledge in the area of cancer signaling and solid tumor cell biology. The candidate will be expected to contribute to studies for multiple projects and present their research in group settings.
Specific tasks include the following:- Implementation of phenotypic and biochemical assays in tumor cells for mechanism of action studies, supporting Discovery and Pre-clinical development of lead molecules.
- Implementation and characterization of cell-based assays to assess the effects of drug substance alone and in combination with other drug substances.
- Implementation of studies for the identification of biomarkers.
- Data analysis and evaluation.
Education & Languages- B. S. in biological sciences with 6+ years related industry/research experience or M.S. with 4+ years related industry/research experience.
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Professional Skills & Experience- Expertise in phenotypic and mechanistic cell-based assays in solid tumor models: proliferation (monolayer and soft agar) and apoptosis assays, cell cycle profiling.
- Expertise in the analysis of signaling pathway modulation in solid tumor models: Western analysis, FACS-based assays.
- Expertise in testing and evaluating drug molecules alone and in combination in tumor hallmark assays.
- Proficient in cell culturing and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of signalling networks involved in cancer.
- Experience in PCR and gene expression analysis is an asset.
- High level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with Excel and data analysis software.
Personal Skills & Competencies- Self-motivated, highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and balance working on multiple projects at once.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
