EP’s Database Development & Production group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain applications used to extract, transform and enhance high volumes of content for inclusion on our industry-leading research database products. Qualified individuals need excellent object oriented design skills and multi-threaded design skills that can be used to design highly scalable frameworks and applications. The Sr Software Engineer will develop functional and design specifications, and deliver software for multiple projects. You’ll work closely with other development, quality assurance and production teams.
Essential functions include:
• Work with product management and others to understand and clarify requirements
• Create functional specifications and design specifications
• Design, code and unit test object-oriented software
• Maintain and enhance existing software
• Relational database design, development and analysis
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study
• 7+ years of software/database development experience.
• 3 or more years of object-oriented design and implementation skills.
• 2 or more years of multi-threaded design and implementation skills.
• 2 or more years of Oracle 8i, 9i or 10g experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• ODBC, JDBC, OCI, Hibernate, or ADO.NET experience
• Expertise with Java or C# (at least 2-3 years).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent team-working skills
• Deep technical understanding of systems, databases, networking, and computing environments.
• .Net experience
• XML, XSLT, DTDs, schemas, and related technologies.
• Experience with SQL query tuning
• Experience with other DBMSs like MS SQL Server or MySQL.
