Portfolio Manager - Fixed Income

Job Summary Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Previous Fixed Income trading experience required.
In conjunction with the AVP-Investments, this position will be responsible for monitoring Commerce’s investment portfolio while analyzing new investment opportunities. This position will have direct input into maintaining the safety and stability of Commerce’s assets and a significant impact on the net investment income of the portfolio.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Masters Degree or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 6 - 8 years - or Associates Degree equivalent plus 8 or more years.
Knowledge: Complete understanding and knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Applies them to perform or lead work requiring extensive analytical business skills.
Decision Making: Makes complex decisions interpreting company policy, for which there is no set procedure. Decisions influence success for projects of significant impact importance, client relationships, expenses and or ability to meet organizational objectives.
Supervision Received: Works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy in meeting objectives.
Leadership: Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff as needed. Takes a lead role in group, team or project.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Applies knowledge to determine solutions to complex problems with minimal direction. Uses research and analysis to develop innovative and practical solutions which are consistent with organizational objectives.
Client Contacts: Manages internal and external relationships. Represents organization as prime contact for projects and other necessary communications. Interaction may include senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring complex coordination between organizations. Communication involves persuasion and negotiation, as applicable. Seeks ways of improving client service.
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is a plus.
Prior Insurance Asset Management experience is a plus.
