Job Description


The Junior Reporting Engineer will provide high quality technology solutions and support that address business needs by developing applications in advanced reporting technology environments.  The candidate will provide support and direction to internal business partners and departments regarding all aspects of the reporting application. 


 


The Junior Reporting Engineer will participate in project planning sessions with Project Managers, Business Analysts and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution. 


 


The Junior Reporting Engineer may perform detailed design, development and implementation of Cognos 8.3 and other reporting technology components for a highly critical Client Reporting application.  The Junior Reporting Engineer may be expected to provide input to design recommendations; provide input to information/data flow report processes; and develop reports, as well as comply with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodology.

Required Skill and Experience


·        Knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and the use of T-SQL.


·        Experience with Project Management and SDLC.


·        Knowledge of the methods and techniques of systems analysis, design and programming, and applicable development products, languages and utilities.


·        Knowledge of the BI architecture, relational and dimensional modeling and experience working in a Data Warehouse environment.


·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


·        Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.


·        Strong analytic and problem-solving ability.


·        Looking for 1+ to 3 years experience.


 


Preferred Skills and Experience


 


·        Knowledge of Cognos Framework Manager 8.3.


·        Knowledge of Entity Relationship Modeling techniques.


·        Experience with Cognos 8.3 Report Studio and Query Studio.




  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SSRS a plus.
