The Business Development Specialist provides dedicated sales and business development support to an assigned region of community banking offices. The primary responsibility is increasing the number of profitable customer relationships through the generation of new loan and deposit opportunities and the expansion of new relationships. Performs any functions, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to internal and external customers.
Prospects and networks in an assigned territory to develop new long-term mutually beneficial relationships, focusing on deposit and small business loan relationships through a consultative selling approach.
Devises and implements an aggressive calling program, targeting companies with annual revenues up to $2.5 million. Cross-sells bank products and services, with a particular emphasis on fee income growth opportunities.
Develops and manages a network of external centers of influence. Pursues those outreach activities, both internally and externally, that increase and reinforce community and market awareness for the Bank.
Collaborates with community banking regional and branch managers and business banking specialists in devising quarterly and annual market action plans and in team goal setting activities to help meet branch goals.
Makes periodic contact with large deposit balance ($1MM and above) non-borrowing commercial customers.
Partners with other bank professionals on joint sales presentations as appropriate (Community Banking, Middlesex Financial Group, Cash Management).
Provides direction to prospects based on their needs and the Bank’s requirements and refers and introduces them to the appropriate area within MSB.
Increases market presence by consistently and effectively networking within the community. and maintains favorable community image.
Maintains a thorough understanding of all Community Banking loan and deposit products.
Attends all branch manager meetings for assigned region, to exchange market and product information, to gather feedback and to act as a resource for business development issues.
Represents the Bank through participation in various industry and community activities and networking events. Actively promotes the Bank’s interests in the marketplace.
Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
Two to three years of business development experience is required, and experience in retail banking and /or financial services is highly preferred.
Must possess strong sales and service skills and with demonstrated success in generating new business leads and meeting sales goals.
Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with centers of influence, and to partner with management team to develop new sales programs and marketing strategies.
Should have familiarity within the community of the assigned market.
Excellent presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation to meet all of the requirements of the position.
