Job Purpose:


 


This position is responsible for managing and conducting the claims activities of the company, and assisting the Chief Claims Officer in establishing claims’ policies and procedures.  The Director Claims Operations also helps assure that proper services, settlement of claims and investigations take place, obtaining legal assistance as needed.   


 


 


Job Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Defining property claims service standards


  • Selecting independent adjusting partners


  • Selecting attorney and engineering firms


  • Developing salvage/subrogation and other recovery processes


  • Improving catastrophe response plans


  • Defining / refining / testing claims system requirements


  • Training adjusters on our property claims strategies


  • Coordinating with Underwriting on ITV strategies


  • Designing solutions to minimize the role of public adjusters


  • Marketing claims solutions to key insurance brokers

 


As the business shifts from design to full launch, the Director will continue to advance the above assignments; and serve as the senior referral source for property claims.  For some larger property claims, the Director may be the assigned adjuster.


 


 


Experience and General Qualifications:


 




  • Minimum of 10 years of Property & Casualty Claims, with experience in personal property damage appraisals – dwelling and contents.


  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.


  • Must have experience in a high service, client facing environment.


  • Strong leadership skills required.


  • Must possess technical homeowner claims handling and negotiation skills.


  • Other experience in the areas of cat response, start-up operations, recruiting, team-building, budgeting, strategic planning, call centers, broker channels and various insurance functions are a plus.

 


 


Education:


 




  • College bachelor's degree required.


  • CPCU, SCLA, AIC or other appropriate designation required.


  • Personal property insurance education/experience or adjuster’s license preferred.
