The American Red Cross Blood Services Massachusetts Region/Northeast Division is seeking a dynamic Transfusion Medicine Physician to assist the Chief Medical Officers in:
- Directing medical aspects of regional blood center operations, including the reference laboratories, medical community relations, collections and research.
- Providing medical direction for transfusion medicine-related clinical services.
- Providing medical consultations on transfusion medicine issues to regional physicians and other health care professionals.
- Promoting the use of safe and effective blood transfusion components and services and enhancing the image of the Red Cross as a transfusion medicine leader regionally and nationally.
Job Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree with post-graduate training or experience in blood banking/transfusion medicine is required.
- Board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics or clinical pathology.
- Board certified or eligible in blood banking/transfusion medicine is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of current/projected trends in transfusion medicine/blood banking and hospital health care highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical/technical principles of blood center operations.
- Experience in histocompatibility testing oversight highly desirable.
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of the primary site of the division and all states served by the division.
- Minimum three years experience in blood banking/transfusion medicine, or related field, or completion of a blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship required.
- Experience in relevant medical/scientific research and scholarly activities sufficient to warrant academic appointment is highly desirable.
- Travel Required.
