Job Description

Manager of IT Merchandise Solutions

Responsibilities:

Will deliver, organize, guide and direct all activities and functions in the delivery of information technology in support of  BJ's business needs and corporate objectives.  Will be responsible for the planning and development of computer applications including but not limited to:  project scheduling, design, construction, testing, implementation technical support, user training support, and contingency planning following System Development/Project Life Cycle procedures.  Will also be responsible for the successful cross functional delivery of all assigned projects.  In addition, the Manager of IT Merchandising Solutions will assess customer requirements and operational needs; will provide creative and strategic solutions to key business issues and opportunities; will collaborate with peers and senior business and merchandising representatives on conceptualizing, prioritizing and initiating development projects; will manage multi-million dollar projects with local and geographically distributed project resources; and will supply leadership and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.  Additional activities will include active participation in the IT Business, Capacity and Strategic planning; participation and monitoring or capital and expense budgets; preparation of project descriptions, estimates and milestones in support of the Business Planning process and the providing of leadership to team members and business users for all IT governance (IT process, SOX and PCI controls).  Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements:

Eight years of experience in analysis, design and implementation of business and retail systems (along with project leadership experience) with four to six years experience as a System Development Manager are required.  Must possess knowledge of System Development Life Cycle methodology and business systems design.  Additional desired skills include prior experience with Mainframe Systems, Logistics and Merchandising Systems.  Degree or equivalent work experience is required along with exposure and familiarity with mainframe development, client server and web technologies such as: COBOL II, IMS DB, DB2, MVS, JCL, CICS, Windows, Unix/AIX and JAVA.  This is not a hands-on technology role.
