Work Week: Generally 40 Hours (5 Days, Holidays, Nights, Weekends)
SUMMARY The Retail Sales Manager will be responsible for achieving expected sales goals and providing superior customer service through in-store execution of various programs, initiatives and standards. The Retail Sales Manager is expected to develop and provide inspirational leadership and direction to a team of 3-6 associates.
As Leaders, all Retail Sales Managers are Expected to Drive These Five Priorities-
Associates- will inspire and develop a team of four or more associates to exceed company sales, operational and service goals. Will proactively work with the Retail, Service and Commercial Management Teams to identify team strengths, weaknesses, training and developmental needs.
Customers- ensures all company customer service programs and procedures are followed by all retail, service, and commercial associates. Will be expected to know what customers think of Pep Boys based on engagement, observation, net promoter scores and phone shops.
Sales- expected to know sales goals, key performance indicators, and category performance. Will be expected to manage the merchandising map and presentation standards. Will be responsible for executing promotions, sales tactics, spiffs and sales incentives by fostering an environment of Do It Right Related Selling and Selling Excellence standards.
Profits- will be expected to contribute to the profitability of Pep Boys by controlling margin opportunities (returns, price modifications, discounts and special orders). Will also be expected to control expense opportunities (payroll, safety, paid-outs, and store use).
Growth- a Retail Sales Manager will contribute to the growth of the organization by offering superior service and ensuring the best possible team is in place to surpass our competitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans and oversees the store's merchandising plan, housekeeping standards, advertising and promotion activities including plan-o-grams, signage, resets, labels and price tickets.
Oversees merchandising levels to foster a productive sales environment. Vigorously communicates, trains and participates in the execution of high merchandising standards. Will utilize observation and role playing to conduct training.
Coordinates the opening and closing of the store according to the established operating schedule and procedures.
Ensures all associates comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Human Resources and Stores Operations Manuals. Must ensure training completions are maintained at 100% and must complete Pep Boys' Parts PRO certification and ASE P2 (Parts Specialist) certification within two years of employment.
Works with the Store Management Team to produce a safe and healthy work environment that complies with all state, local and federal laws, as well as, Pep Boy’s policies and procedures.
Will passionately focus on customer needs, and drive the store’s performance with the highest degree of integrity and trust. Must be approachable by both customers and associates.
The Retail Sales Manager is a primary key carrier and responsible for basic and detailed opening/closing responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly manages four or more associates and indirectly manages numerous associates in the retail, service and commercial lines of business. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports. Will be expected to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Completion of a two-year college or technical program or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
