Staff Accountant - Corporate Royalty Accounting


Objective:
 
Individual will play a lead role in all accounting and analyses related to International Licensing Income functions.  This position will have direct involvement with both external and internal reporting of licensing income, expense, sales, and related areas of contractual obligations to Hasbro licensees as well as Hasbro licensors, inventors, authors and Hasbro management. 
 
Relationships:
 

Internal Contacts:  Interaction with various levels of personnel within finance, legal, marketing, senior brand management, and information system departments.  
External Contacts:  Hasbro’s licensors, inventors and authors.  KPMG auditors and others who perform similar functions for both licensees and licensors.

 Principal Accountabilities:
 

In-depth knowledge and responsibility of maintaining the Licensing System (Profit) as well as Oasis.
General ledger posting, account reconciliation and analyses associated with royalty transactions.
Licensing and inventor contractual analysis for royalty accounting purposes.
External reporting and analysis to licensees and inventors of product performance associated with respective licenses.  

Staff Accountant Areas of Responsibility
 

Responsible for the general maintenance and accounting for the International Licenses.  This includes monthly processing of new contracts, intellectual properties, etc. from set up through to the payment process.
Preparation of associated Journal Entries.
Responsibility for various licenses, including minimum guarantee, advance adnalysis and royalty reporting as needed.
Ad hoc projects as required by CRD Management
Preparation and analysis of data required for third party royalty audits and the annual external audit
Assistance in performing SOX self assessments 

Qualifications:
 

BS in Accounting or Finance
3 – 5 years hands on experience in a financial environment. Experience with a larger consumer product goods company is preferred.
Superior Microsoft Work, Excel and Access skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to multi-task and be a self starter
Ability to organize a variety of data from diverse sources into working documents for both Internal and External clients
Knowledge of SAP, General Ledger, and Accounts Payable systems
Report creation, analysis and publication skills
